10Mwe power station
Additional electrical power for a fast track project was required by the Norwegian State owned Store Norske Spitsbergen Kulkompani ( SNSK ) at a coal drift mine on Spitsbergen, Svalbard 77 degrees North. The requirement was for 10 megawatt of electricity which we were able to satisfy using two 5 megawatt Caterpillar 3616 diesel engines, purchased from Michelin tyres, Vanne in France.
For two thirds of the year Spitsbergen has 24 hours of darkness and most of this time surrounded by pack ice. In the four months of 24 hour daylight delivery of the generating sets, auxiliary equipment , construction of the power station, installation , testing and commissioning was achieved with good coordination between the client, ourselves and subcontractors.
